These guys loved their first catio so much that their human wanted more for them. Some territoriality between upstairs and downstairs kitties necessitated some separate space.
Additionally, these guys are permitted in the real outdoors during the day. In order to access a cat door in a second-storey window, they were doing some damage to a window screen and bashing in the roof of their catio. So I was asked to build a cat ladder and some more skookum window panels to reduce the effects.
Ronnie found the new space before I even got home from installing it.
This cat ladder gets them up to the window...
...and protects the catio roof from them jumping down onto it.
The tricky part of this window box was to design it so I could assemble it element by element from outside on a ladder.

Fits in with the previous theme.
The window can be opened to get at the whole interior.
But an insert with a cat door (and bug screening) is the usual status.
Nya does not get along with Freyja the downstairs cat and is pleased to have her own space.
All spaces are Ronnie's, however.
Nya and Ronnie share well.
Bonus: fluffy butt squished against window.
The box is hung on a cleat so can be taken down if necessary with minmal effort.
